New Puppy/Dog Supply Checklist

Updated: Apr 26

Bringing home a new puppy or dog is an exciting time! But it can also be overwhelming, especially if it is your first dog.

Here is a list of essentials when bringing home a new furry friend:

  • 4 ft leash We like nylon, biothane, or Mendota rope leashes the best!

  • Long Line (10-20ft)

  • Nylon- not slippery when wet, gets dirty, heavy when wet

  • Biothane- wipes off easily, but very slippery when wet

  • Collar We like nylon, leather, or martingale style collars the best!

  • Treat Pouch This is our preferred treat pouch!

  • Appropriately Sized Crate- If your dog is not potty trained, we recommend getting a smaller crate (just big enough for them to stand and lay down in until they are potty trained. This means, you may want to get a wire crate with a divider so you don't have to buy multiple crates as your dog gets bigger. However, we tend to prefer plastic crates as they are heavier duty and most dogs feel more secure in them.

  • Wire Crate

  • Plastic Crate

  • Heavier Duty Plastic Crate

  • If you want an even heavier duty crate, we recommend Ruffland Kennels, Dakota Kennels, TNC kennels, or KBC kennels.

  • Exercise Pen

  • Food and Water Bowls

  • Option 1

  • Option 2

  • Dog food

  • Ask the breeder what food they are on so you can slowly transition them to the food you want to feed.

  • Food brands we recommend- Inukshuk, Purina Pro Plan, Victor, Acana, Fromm, Nutri-Source

  • Kong or Toppl

  • Kong

  • Toppl

  • Canned dog food for stuffing Kong or Toppl

  • Appropriately sized toys and chews

  • We recommend chews like Benebones so your dog isn't getting extra calories
